Introducing you to my first skincare " Epic Fail" of 2020 : Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener

The first products that introduced me to the world of Korean skincare were the Etude House Moistful Collagen Cream and Toner that's why until today this brand holds a dear place in my heart.
I often buy Etude house products to discover hidden gems in their huge lineup and interesting products in the various sea of products they are promoting.
For a long time, I was eyeing their Wonder Pore Freshener toner as I heard a lot of positive and good reviews about it and noticed how cute the packaging of this toner was so during a business trip to Dubai last year I had to get my hands on it and I did.
The Etude House Wonder Freshener claims that it is a 7-in1 solution that helps deep cleanse the skin, control the sebum production, bring the skin pH level to 4.5, tighten the dilated pores, clear and moisturize the skin and give it elasticity. So, in short, it is THE miracle product for all the skin concerns anyone can have.
The Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener is a watery and very light toner that should be massaged into the skin using a cotton pad after cleansing day and night.
My experience with this product was short-lived since I only used it once and then decided to drop it.I would name it a "Hate at first use" experience.
This toner was very drying and harsh on my skin giving it that tight and uncomfortable feeling.
I would say this is a result of my carelessness as I didn't take the time to read the ingredients list of this product. If I did I would have noticed that this toner includes alcohol.
Alcohol also knows as Ethanol is a controversial element as it is a great solvent, penetration enhancer and creates cosmetically elegant, light formulas great astringent and antimicrobial. It is usually used in toners and oily skin formulas.
The drawback of this ingredient is that it can be very drying and very harsh on sensitive skin if it is in the first few ingredients on the ingredient list of a product so imagine if it is the second ingredient in the list. This means that the product is made out almost entirely of Alcohol.

Ingredients:
WATER, ALCOHOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, BETAINE, MENTHA ARVENSIS EXTRACT, VACCINIUM MYRTILLUS FRUIT/ LEAF EXTRACT, SACCHARUM OFFICINARUM (SUGAR CANE) EXTRACT, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM (LEMON) FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) FRUIT EXTRACT, CHAM- AECYPARIS OBTUSA WATER, GINKGO BILOBA LEAF EXTRACT, ACER SACCHARUM (SUGAR MAPLE) EXTRACT, GENTIANA LU- TEA ROOT EXTRACT, ARTEMISIA ABSINTHIUM EXTRACT, ARNICA MONTANA FLOWER EXTRACT, ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM EXTRACT, GLYCERETH-26, GLYCERIN, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ACETIC ACID, DISODIUM EDTA, PHENOXYETHANOL

This experience is a great lesson to anyone who wants to buy a product just because it looks nice or the brand is a known one or that it claims that it will solve all your skin concerns.

Take time to read the ingredients list and look up the different components and then decide if it is really what your skin needs and don't feel guilty about dropping a product that is not working for your skin even if you only used it once or twice.

Have a glowy skin day everyone!
